RESEARCH INTERESTS:

Loss of PTEN (Phosphatase and tensin homolog) tumor suppressor represents one of the most frequent alterations in diverse types of human cancers that contributes to pathogenesis and affects clinical outcome. My research focuses on developing and utilizing genetically engineered mouse models to investigate how loss of PTEN influences tissue homeostasis in skin and breast tissues, leading to PTEN hamartoma tumor syndrome (PHTS) which is characterized by cellular outgrowth, benign hamartomas and predisposition to malignant cancers, especially breast cancer. These models enable both genetic and pharmacological studies to identify novel therapeutic strategy.
